A Review of KALASHA in Daily Express
A detailed review of my book, KALASHA: Sole Non-Muslim Indigenous People of Pakistan, written by Ayesha Iqbal, was published in the Sunday Magazine of Daily Express on 20 September 2026.
Titled “A Historical Study of a Unique Civilization of the Hindu Kush,” the review discusses the book’s exploration of Kalasha history, religion, festivals, rituals, material culture, and the challenges facing this remarkable indigenous community.
The book represents nearly two decades of my research, beginning in 2004–2005, along with repeated field visits to the Kalasha valleys since 2007. It is encouraging to see this scholarly journey receiving attention in the national press.

پر عائشہ اقبال کا تفصیلی تبصرہ روزنامہ ایکسپریس کے سنڈے میگزین میں 20 ستمبر 2026 کو شائع ہوا۔
’’کوہِ ہندوکش کی ایک نادر تہذیب کا تاریخی مطالعہ‘‘ کے عنوان سے شائع ہونے والے اس تبصرے میں کتاب کے اُن مختلف پہلوؤں پر گفتگو کی گئی ہے جو کالاشہ کی تاریخ، مذہب، تہواروں، رسومات، مادی ثقافت اور اس منفرد مقامی برادری کو درپیش موجودہ چیلنجز سے متعلق ہیں۔
یہ کتاب میری تقریباً دو دہائیوں پر محیط تحقیق کا حاصل ہے، جس کا آغاز 2004–2005 میں ہوا، جبکہ 2007 سے کالاشہ وادیوں کے متعدد تحقیقی دورے بھی اس علمی سفر کا حصہ رہے ہیں۔ میرے لیے یہ امر باعثِ مسرت ہے کہ اس طویل تحقیقی سفر کو قومی ذرائع ابلاغ میں پذیرائی مل رہی ہے۔
